Abstract

Ruminant feed blocks, partic. for cattle, sheep and goats, contains ammonium phosphate, lactoserum and a hydrated calcium sulphate binder. The blocks provide adequate nutritional value, partic. as supplements to natural or artificial forage, they are weather-resistant, easily stored and easily mfd. The blocks may also contain other feed materials such as mineral salts, vegetable materials, proteins and vitamins. In an example, a mixt. was prepd. from 35-50% lactoserum at pH 5.2-4.35, 10-25% calcium sulphate hemihydrate, 5-20% ammonium phosphate and 2% propylene glycol as preservative. The rest of the mixt. comprised 3/4. mineral supplement and 1/4. nitrogen supplement.
