Abstract

An infra-red radiator which can be used in the vertical position. It consists of a quartz tube which contains a heating resistance. The heat radiation is uniform in all directions. The windings of the element (2) are held in their original position during operation by means of an element fitted in the tube (1). The element is made from an insulating non-flammable material. The element consists of grainy material (5) such as fine dried sand. The heating element is wound around the core formed by the element. The filling of the grainy material will ensure that the individual distances between the turns of the element will remain constant even when the radiator is in the vertical position. There are end caps (3) which contain the terminals (4) for the resistance element.
