Abstract

A wrapping device (1) is used for motor racing tyres and it ensures that the tyre temperatures and pressures are at their normal track levels at the start of a race. This prevents inferior road-holding with cold tyres at the start. The wrap consists of a flexible rectangle of plastics material, e.g. P.T.F.E. carrying an electrical resistance wire heating strip of nickel-chrome working at 220 volts. The strip is completed by a strip of aluminised paper and an outer layer of flexible plastics. The wrap is held in position around the tyre by two cords running in sleeves (Be along the longest side of the rectangle and by two bands of cloth having continuous miniature hooks and eyes.
