Abstract

The artificial hip joint comprises a spherical femur head and a socket fitting in the cavity of the iliac bone, movable in relation to the latter and forming a hemispherical recess for the head. The external surface (9) of the socket is hemispherical and eccentric in relation to the recess (8). The common centre (01) of the head and recess can be vertically above that of the external surface centre (02). The socket can be of plastic, while its outer surface is formed by stainless metal cladding fixed to it. It can be thicker at the periphery than near the apex.
