Abstract

The aid device is used for assisting blind or those with reduced vision ability to recognise their surroundings. The aid is worn as spectacles and the distance settings are made by the wearer. The optical system used has combined electrical and optical converter and electronic circuit for processing signals. The optical system is used for displaying the distance of the blind person from an obstacle. Optical systems are used to supply signals to the person by the electronic circuit which will give an impression of at least partial ability to see. The signals are generated to produce audible or tactile display of the distance. A binocular system can be used for evaluating the distance to the obstruction.
