Abstract

The liquid fuel injection pump is for supplying measured charges of fuel to an internal combustion engine. It comprises a distributor rotor having a transverse bore extending through it and a pump chamber in which the charges are pressurised to high pressure for injection into the cylinders of the engine. A transfer pump feeds a passage for delivering it's output to the pump chamber through the transverse bore, and a replaceable check valve cartridge is slidably mounted in the transverse bore. The check valve cartridge comprises a prefabricated integral check valve assembly comprising a cylindrical barrel having a single diameter, a hollow valve seat secured to the barrel at one end, a stop secured to the barrel at the other end, a ball for seating on said valve seat and a chamber in the barrel between the valve seat and the stop.
