Abstract

The shoe has a sole shaped to fit it and with the edge of the sole pulled up over it along all or part of the periphery. One or more openings (14) are formed in the edge of the sole (13). The upper (11) can be arranged to cover the openings at least, pref. on the inside of the sole edge, and different material can be used for the upper above and below the edge, that in line with the openings being typically of net or other air-permeable material. Toe-and hell-caps (16, 17) can be provided on the sole edge, and the openings can be smaller or fewer in the instep and/or ankle area.
