Abstract

Automatic reset mechanism for circuit breakers installed in various electrical installations to protect against over-voltage and subsequent damage. The reset system allows the cut-out to move back into its 'ON' position after the system has been tripped by a short lived transient, as may occur during thunderstorms. The reset employs a separate electrical D.C. supply and a motor with reduction gearing operating a cam system. A lever engages with a contact system housed in a sliding compartment which acts downward onto the reset button. The lever itself is operated by a cam on a single cycle of rotation of the motor gearing, the cam working against a helical spring.
