Abstract

The filter apparatus employs materials with a natural electrostatic action, high polymer plastics with different textures. They are arranged symmetrically in the filter. The outer layers of the filter comprise thin sheets is which the constituent filaments are arranged in a regular geometric fashion. Between the outer layers is placed a mass of material in which the filament may be only approximately regular, but the mass has sufficient thickness to give the filter a good dust retention capacity. The combination of the two types of material produces the filtration efficiency of the geometric sheet together with the retention capacity of the thicker mass of material. The symmetrical arrangement of the filter combined with the fact that an auxiliary filter cloth is unnecessary means that the air flow can pass through the filter in either direction. The filter ca be used in systems where the filter is washed automatically without suffering damage. Any situation where fine filtration of air is required either alone of as a prefilter.
