Abstract

The sensor monitors the intracranial pressure of a person or animal and comprises an externally threaded plug (60, 61) screwed into an aperture in the skull. Inside is a silicon rubber capsule (63), terminating in a membrane (64). This carries internally a permanent magnet (72) positioned opposite a Hall transducer (71). The wires (73) for this pass upwards through a central tube (69) and out through another (67) at the side. These tubes also convey the pressurised gas, this passing into the capsule through holes (70) in the central tube.
