Abstract

A linear solar energy collector comprises a reflector surface which is a focussing surface with a focal plane having a single vertical plane of symmetry and an absorber surface which occupies the same plane of symmetry as the reflector surface. The surfaces are arranged such that 0.2F = L =2F and 0.015F =1 =0.032F and 0 d =0.080F, where F is the focal length of the reflector surface; L is the width of the projection of the reflector surface in the foal plane; 1 is the width of the projection of the absorber surface in the focal plane; and d is the distance between the focal plane and the reflector surface. Mfr. and installation costs and radiation losses are reduced and efficiency increased.
