Abstract

In a steam power plant saturated or wet steam is transferred from one part to another through a circular pipe with a right angle bend in it. There are guide vanes in the bend, each vane having a double wall (4, 9) with a hollow space (6) inside it. There are openings (7) in the wall (9) forming the concave side which communicate with the space inside the blade. Channels (13) within the space run out through the side of the blade and out through the pipe. Steam is deflected by the blades but the heavier droplets of water impinge on the blade and enter it through the holes (7). The water thus collects inside the blade and is drained away by the channels.
