Abstract

The device for lowering into a borehole after completion of the drilling operation is used to filter the drilling mud, so that unwanted sediment can be retained inside and discharged after the device has been lifted again from the hole. Under the hood at the top is a housing (120a) onto which is bolted a cylinder (14a) which holds the solid material (14") which collects at the bottom. Inside the top housing (120a) is an impeller (G1) which draws slurry up through an inner tube ((40a) which has discharge holes (70a) at the top, and the cleaned fluid is then discharged sideways from a top chamber (140) through side outlets (124a). The slurry enters side inlets (65a) below, passes through a fileter (42a) then upwards through the inner tube system after cleaning. The filter is also cleaned by rotary brushes (52a) mounted on a cylinder around the inner tube (40a).
