Abstract

Safety steering wheel (1) for motor vehicles has built-in thumb operated contactor controls (2, 2') e.g. for horn, direction indicators, windscreen wipers and headlights. The press-buttons of the contactors are placed within thumb reach of the wheel rim and are in the spokes of the steering wheel or in the neighbourhood of the hub (4). The wiring passes through rotating slide contacts between contactors on the wheel and on the steering column. The contactors may be tiered parallel to the steering wheel, and supplementary contactors may be placed on the underside of the steering wheel.
