Abstract

The transmitting devices (S) for the location-specific information are disposed at predefined intervals along the route (Si); information is transmitted to the vehicles (Fa) when they pass the transmitting devices (S). The latter are modulating microwave transmitting devices with sharply focusing antennas (As) aligned across the direction of travel of the vehicles (Fa). The vehicles (Fa) have receiving devices (E) which are in each case equipped with two directional antennas (Ae) aligned in opposite directions and across the direction of travel. On multi-track routes, the track on which the train is travelling can thus be identified. The transmitting devices are active and allow large amounts of information to be transmitted.
