Abstract

Mixt., esp. for sheathing pencil leads, consists of 100 pts. wt. polyvinyl aromatic resin, 1-9.5 pts. wt. polyethylene, 1-30 pts. wt. polypropylene, PVC and/or PVAc, 1-20 pts. wt. talcum, 5-50 pts. wt. chopped glass fibres, 0.3-2 pts. wt. blowing agent, (I), decomposing at 170-240 degrees C and 0.3-2 pts. wt. blowing agent (II) decomposing at 100-160 degrees C. The 0.3-2 pts. wt. of (II) can be replaced by 1-20 pts. wt. of foamable resin. The mixt. can be used for hexagonal and round leads and for pastel-coloured pencils. The prods. have an even structure, good adhesion to coated articles, can be cut well and have flexural elasticity modulus 30-40000 kp/cm2. A microporous structure can be achieved in 2 consecutive steps. Pencil mfr. takes place without waste, cheaply, with savings in wood and labour.
