Abstract

The oscillating moulds (10, 20) may be used in the prodn. of precast concrete blocks, and are oscillated by pin-jointed rods (21-34) from a cranked drive-shaft (11). They are oscillated in pairs (10, 20). The moulds in each pair oscillating in an inverse relationship, thus nullifying the out of balance forces on the drive-shaft (11). A single drive shaft (11), driven by a belt (15) from a motor (14), and doubly cranked (16, 17) to locate opposed rods (21, 23), vibrates each pair of moulds (10, 20). The two moulds are imparted with alternating linear motion and are constantly phased in opposition. The drive-shaft (11) may pass between the two moulds (10, 20) and may span bearings (16) built onto the substructure (13).
