Abstract

The method is used to apply a sealing film to large open surfaces, a helicopter being employed at low level to distribute the product through airborne spraying equipment. The material is in the form of a resin accelerator and a catalyser, both carried in separate tanks and mixed at the spray point with chopped glass fibres or a filler. The sprayed liquid is applied in overlapping strips in two directions, solidifying through chemical action to form a film approx. 1 mm thick. Ground areas must be prepared beforehand by compacting and grading and the edges sealed manually with a hand spray.
