Abstract

An image of a still picture may be projected onto a screen, the illusion of animation being created by undulating the still picture. The still picture is placed over four rows of inflatable bags (13) which are connected by pipes (19) to hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders (31). These cylinders are actuated in a repeated sequence by a cam (34) driven by an electric motor (42). As each bag (13) is alternately inflated and deflated undulations are generated in the surface of the picture laid on top of the bass. When the undulating surface is projected on to a screen this illusion of animation is created.
