Abstract

A non-corrosive, flame-retardant polymeric compsn. contains (i) a polyolefin; (ii) 0, 01-15 wt. % (w.r.t. the polyolefin) of a cpd. of general formula (I), where R1 and R4, are 1-20C alkyl, partially or torally brominated; R2 and R3 are H, 1-6C alkyl, or phenyl, each being opt. brominated; (iii) 0.001-15 wt.% Sb2O3; (iv) 0.01-15 wt.% pf a cpd. of general formula (II), where R5, R6, R7 and R8, are H, 1-18C alkyl; A is alkylene, arylene or alkylarylene possibly contg. a heterotam like O, S, N or P. The polymeric compsn. is used e.g. to prepare fibres, threads, films and sheets. The polymeric compsn., which is flame-resistant and non-corrosive, is also resistant to light and to thermal degradation, and gives fibres with good mechanical properties.
