Abstract
A tap comprising basically a core turning coaxially within a hollow casing so as to align passages through the core with one or more liquid inputs involves annular elastic seals between the core and the casing. The seals allow sufficient clearance (0.3 mm.) to be maintained between the core and the casing to accommodate any relative thermal expansion between components when passing or mixing liquids or variable or different temps. Pref. seals are made of ethylene-propylene rubber with a circular cross-section of about 2 mm. dia. The construction has an integral sleeve of low friction material on the core, pref. of PTFE moulded using the top core as a mould insert. The core is hollow, to discharge coaxially towards the base of the casing the outlet. The tap is closed by axial movement against a flat pad of rubber.
