An odiferous compsn. contains 5-oxa-2-methyl-7-phenyl-2-heptene in practically pure form or in the form of mixts. excepting natural mixts. contg. the cpd. In a perfume, the amt. of cpd. used is 0.5-20%, esp. 2-15%; in cosmetic prods. the amt. used is 0.001-0.01%. The compsns. are used in prods. such as soap, aerosol prods., cleaning prods., shampoos and foam baths. The cpd. is stable, has good tenacity and strength.
