Abstract

The cable braces are connected to one another so that a spacing is left between the optical fibres when they are aligned with one another by their optical axes and plugged in. The spacing between the optical fibres is filled with an immersion liquid. The cable brace has aligning elements for the glass fibres which are centred when the fibres are plugged together. The aligning elements of one brace consist of a cylinder which has on its periphery vee-shaped axial notches, the optical fibres being clamped by clamping wedges on the bottom of the notches.
