Randomly disposed and bonded fibre structures are produced from a dispersion of a polymer in a volatile solvent which is transformed into the fibres in an evapn. zone in which the solvent is exposed to the action of an electric field, whereby the transformation takes place in an inert gas atmos. which contains the soln. whose concn. corresponds to >=10% of the saturation concn. of he solvent. Fibrous prod. has low density, good adhesion and high tensile strength (per unit of wt.).
