Abstract
Matériau vitreux fibreux résistant à l'attaque alcaline pour le renforcement des ciments. Le verre est constitué de 85 à 99 % de basalte et de 15 à 1 % de ZrO2 . On peut développer dans les fibres des cristaux magnétiques. Les fibres sont chauffées de 650 à 900 degrés C pendant une demi-heure et refroidies à l'air. La surface reste vitreuse. La différence des coefficients de dilatation provoque des contraintes de compression entraînant une amélioration de la résistance mécanique des fibres. Application au renforcement des ciments par incorporation de telles fibres.
