Abstract

Two metal parts are to be joined together by heating which melts a third metal located between the joint surfaces of the two metals, where at least one metal contains several components. Prior to assembly, at least one part is coated with a further metal on its joint surface so that the metal forms an alloy with those components which are evolved as a gas during heating. The joining operation is pref. carried out in a reducing atmos. Used e.g. for the brazing of two metal parts.
