Abstract

Efficient process for degrading lignocellulose. It consists in providing a substrate composed of lignocellulose moistened with a mineral nutrient solution whose pH is between 4 and 5, this substrate being composed of about 10%, to about 80% by weight of lignocellulosic solids relative to the total quantity lignocellulosic solids and nutrient solution, to inoculate this substrate with Chrysosporium pruinosum, to maintain the inoculated substrate at a temperature of between 20 and 45 degrees C approximately to grow Chrysosporium pruinosum which produces enzyme systems that degrade lignocellulose, and to leave this mold will grow at this temperature until at least a significant amount of lignocellulose has been broken down. Application to the manufacture of sugar, animal feed, etc.
