Abstract
An animal ear tag comprises a male plate having two heads engaging openings in a female plate, the male plate being engraved with the numeral. It is not possible to remove the ear tag from the animal without destroying the tag. Thus it cannot misleadingly be applied to another animal. The numeral is protected against wear by rubbing by forming a raised edge around the male plate. The numeral is therefore visible for the life of the animal.
