Abstract

On fait réagir une résine époxy avec un agent de terminaison pour éliminer au moins une partie des groupements époxyde de la résine et former une résine modifiée. On fait également réagir la résine époxy ou cette résine modifiée avec un monomère polymérisable par addition à une température élevée, en présence d'au moins 3 % de peroxyde de benzoyle par rapport au poids du monomère. En général, on effectue la dernière réaction à environ 110 degrés C-120 degrés C. On peut effectuer ces deux réactions dans un quelconque ordre désiré ou simultanément. Le mélange réactionnel final obtenu contient : 1 degrés un polymère greffé ; 2 degrés une résine modifiée non greffée, et 3 degrés un polymère d'addition non greffé, formé en association avec le polymère greffé Le terme << polymère greffé >> désigne en particulier un greffage carbone-carbone du polymère d'addition sur la résine modifiée. La proportion de copolymère greffé dans le mélange réactionnel final permet de donner une stabilité remarquable aux dispersions aqueuses du mélange réactionnel.
