Abstract

Anodic protection. against corrosion for metal objects in the chemical, food, textile and cellulose/paper industry which are in contact with aggressive media is based on potential regulators which are connected via a controlled switch with their positive poles to the objects and with their negative poles to cathodes. A reference electrode feeds the input of each regulator. An additional reference electrode near each object is periodically scanned, and a potentiometer connected to it applies an auxiliary current source to the object if the potential differs from a set value. This avoids corrosion during repair or maintenance periods or during faults in the potential regulators or sudden increases of the aggressivity of the corrosive medium. It provides for an individual protection of each object if several of them are connected up.
