Abstract

The water supply system for a steam boiler (8) has feed water supplied to the boiler from a buffer tank (14) fed by fresh water. The feed water circulates through a pump-driven (17) loop (88) which includes the buffer tank and a heater (84). The boiler has a water level sensor (37) automatically connecting (46) the loop to the boiler. The buffer tank also has a water level sensor (53) which automatically starts a pump in order to supply fresh water to the buffer tank. A second, high pressure buffer tank may be included between the first buffer tank and the boiler.
