Abstract

Two glass plates are pre-formed to give the appropriate profiles for the separate components of an absorption-type refrigerator, for example the condenser, absorber, evaporator, thermo-siphon pump. The plates are sealed together either by melting or by cementing to give a completely enclosed unit with the components separated from each other. Metal layers may be surface-deposited on areas where heat-exchange is required, and the complete unit may be strengthened by metal reinforcement. Used for small-size absorption refrigerators using ammonia-water-hydrogen systems. Simple construction and long life compared with all-metal systems.
