Abstract

Resin for chromatographic sepn. of enantiomers comprising a hydrophilic polymeric macroporous gel contg. units of formula - CH2-CH - (where R is an asymmetric organic group). A typical resn was prepd. by suspending methylol-acrylamide, methylene-bis-acrylamide, potassium persulphate and a surfactant in water, mixing with cyclohexane and refluxing for 30 min. to give beads, 60% of 10-40 mu dia. Resolution of products of biosynthesis, esp. aminoacids in which biological activity usually resides in one enantiomer only.
