Abstract

A yarn bobbin has at one end a number of grooves with sharp edges around which an end of yarn can be wrapped and held in position as the yarn is wound onto the bobbin to form a package. Pref. the spaces between the grooves are roughened by a random pattern of recesses. The end of yarn is securely held. Fibres do not come off the yarn and stick to the bobbin eliminating cleaning the bobbin for re-use.
