Abstract

Bird gizzards, esp. from chickens, are hepatropic agents. The raw gizzards may be finely chopped and given orally. They may also be used as an aq. alcohol, or aq. alcoholic extract, administered orally or parenterally. Typically a chicken gizzard was dried at about 100 degrees C, ground, and macerated in 60 ml alcohol for 2 hours. The mixture has then filtered and 2-3ml given every 4 hours for 2 days.
