Abstract

The roller (2) for cam follower forms the outer ring race for the needle rollers (1) of a needle roller bearing. The bearing inner race (3) is formed from a tube or a metal pressing. The inner race (3) is first formed as a cylinder with an end flange (4) with a circumferential groove (6). The groove (6) facilitates the formation of the end flange (5) after the rollers (1) have been assembled between the races (2) and (3). The larger groove (8) serves as a grease reservoir and the radial grooves (7) allow the grease to lubricate the rubbing surfaces of the flange (4) and outer race (2). Grease can also be applied through the hole (21).
