Abstract

The trash racks, situated in a liquid flow channel, are held by a framework, the uprights of which support guide rails in which run sliding pieces (5). Attached to the sliding pieces is a rake (A) which consists of two cheek plates, which are pinned to wheels (10) on the sliding piece, and a perforated plate (7), the lower edge of the plate being a toothed comb. To clean the trash racks, the rake is lowered in a horizontal position by a cable (11), attached to the centre of the perforated plate. At the bottom of the trash racks the rake is allowed to rotate about its pivots under its own weight until the teeth penetrate the grating. The rake is then raised thus cleaning the rubbish.
