Abstract

The barrage elements consists of tubes, driven into the bed of the beach, of a length such that they are immersed at flood tide and promote wave breaking. The barrage can consist of a set of barrage elements driven at an angle inclined towards the shore. One such element consists of a rigid plastic tube (1) into which a second rigid plastic tube is fixed, the first tube being surrounded by a bundle of small tubes (6), fixed by collars (7), which can penetrate deeply into the sea bed. The tubes are ballasted by gravel or stones (6). As the waves break over the barrage, sand is deposited behind the barrage from where it can be removed as and when required.
