Abstract

A vertical tubular evaporator incorporates a means of cleaning the outside of the tubes. The appts. comprises a shell surrounding a tube bundle held in place by tube-plates at the top and bottom. It has additionally a plate below the upper tube plate and near to it, through which the tubes pass. In the space between these two plates is an arrangement to distribute a cleaning fluid, fed into the space around the tubes, so that it streams down the tubes and cleans them.
