Abstract

The master brake cylinder has a first piston which controls a first hydraulic chamber coupled to a first brake circuit. The hydraulic pressure acts on a plunger (34) to control the flow of servo fluid from a pump to the second brake circuit. The plunger seating (40) is part of a cylindrical insert (38) fitted into the end of the master brake cylinder. The plunger has a spherical profile for a precise control of the amount of servo braking. In the event of failure in the first hydraulic circuit the springs coupling the piston to the plunger enable manual braking to be retained.
