Abstract

Delay circuits for vehicle interior or courtesy lights which are normally switched on and off by switches activated by the vehicle doors. The circuit ensures that the light remains on for a short time after the doors are closed and is integral with the light fitting. The circuit is connected in parallel with the vehicle door switches; from the live pole to ground. The delay is governed by a capacitor (16) which is discharged through a diode (18) when the switches (6) are closed. The bias on a transistor (22) in series with the lamps (4) remains such as to keep it in conduction until the capacitor charge builds up, normally taking about 7 to 10 seconds after door closure.
