Abstract

The pipe-line (2) is mounted on inclined spring supports (1) which are fixed to the platform (4). The platform which may be of steel or concrete, is mounted on vertical springs (3) which are mounted on the concrete base (5) forming the floor of the trench (6). This arrangement of springs protects the pipe-line from damage due to subsidence of the surrounding earth. It also protects the pipe-line from seismic shock and vibrations in both horizontal and vertical directions. An alternative form of mounting employs a platform which has side walls. This enables the springs (1) to be mounted with their axes horizontal.
