Abstract

The seal prevents entry of free liquid into the bearings of a dentist's drill. It comprises a plastic disc (3), pushed onto the shank (2) of the drill, liquid is thrown off by centrifugal force. The disc is dished and has fou equally spaced radial slits. The hole through the disc is undersize and the slits provide elasticity. The disc is fitted by means of a tool. This is a block (10, 11) with a vertical clearance hole (14) for the shank. The disc locates in a recess (12, 13) on the upper face of the block and the drill shank is pushed through to the bottom.
