Abstract
The numerically controlled vertical miller cutter is replaced by a resilient, spindle coaxial probe. Radial normal direction, and a null position at a machined workpiece nominal verification points, are defined. The recorded data and control programme are synchronized. From a start point (20), a rapid approach path (17) intersects a normal line (14). With slow normal approach the probe disc (9) contacts (13) the workpiece (4) face (6). At a spindle axis inner position (16) a probing distance (e) defines a circular (18) zero area. The probe returns to the start point along the same path.
