Abstract

Screwing procedure using a multiple head and spindle screw driver unit, comprising a feeler probe (63) which probes the type and nature of the workpiece, an application unit for exercising a specific screwing torque, and a measurement unit for ascertaining the extent of the torque applied. The extent of the exerted and measured torque is dependent upon the type of workpiece, and the speed of the drive motor (1) and the operating range of the measurement unit are accordingly controlled and adjusted. On screws and nuts, a release torque is exerted and adjusted through deformation of bending bars (4) in one direction, and a firm torque through bar (4) deformation in a counter direction. At all times, the correct torque is assured by constant measurement.
