Abstract

A dense sintered ceramic dielectric with a loss factor of =1 x 10-3 and approx. linear temp. dependence of the capacity, based on TiO2 and/or ZrO2 and/or cpds. of TiO2, ZrO2, SnO2, Nb2O5 and/or Ta2O5 with alkali, alkaline earth or rare earth oxides in the form normally used for the prodn. of ceramic dielectrics, has the compsn: a1 A + a2in epsilon = 1 b1(yiBi.ziMi) (with a1 = 50-97 wt. %; A is a basic material with approx. linear temp. dependence of the dielectric constant; n >=1; n epsilon i=i b1 = 1; a1 + a2. n epsilon i=i b1 = 1; yi = 1-5; zi = 1-5; Bi are oxides of metals or alkaline earth metals of gps. IIa, IIb, IVb, Va or Vb; and Mi are the vitrifiers B2O3 and/or P2O5 and/or SiO2). The dielectric is used in single or multi-layer condensers. The forced decrease in the dielectric constant due to the addn. of sintering aids is reduced, whilst the temp. dependence of the dielectric constant remains linear and the loss factor is max. 1 x 10-3 and wide limiting conditions w.r.t. sintering temp. and baking time are sufficient. A low sintering temp. can be used an energy savings are obtd. in the sintering and electrode baking stages.
