Abstract
Resin concrete contains a thermoplastic resin, an inert filler, and an additive which acts as oxidn. catalyst. The resins include polyethylene, PVC, and polystyrene, opt. as waste material, the amt. being 1-12 wt. % w.r.t. the filler. A plasticiser, wetting agent and anti-shrink agent may be included. The inert fillers include gravel, basalt, porphyry, pozzolana, marble chips, expanded glass beads, expanded clay, and sea sand. High strength resin concretes are obtd. without the need for special appts. or special pre-treatment of the resin. The compsn. may be used for road surfaces, aerodromes, car parks, service stations, industrial flooring, reservoirs, railways, sports grounds, floors and ceilings, tiled surfaces.
