Abstract

A sampler includes a main mould for the large sample. An inward bulge on the main mould houses a tubular open-ended mould of much smaller diameter which is filled simultaneously with the first when dipped into a molten metal bath. This produces in one sampling operation both a massive sample for chip prodn. for chemical and spectrometric analysis, and a pencil sample for a rapid C or S analysis. The sampler is inexpensive and simple to mfr. Used partic. for the steel industry.
