Abstract

A bicycle pedal is fitted with an attachment into which the foot of the cyclist can be inserted to give a positive grip and at the same time to protect the foot from the weather. This consists of a shell of e.g. moulded plastics which can be secured to the pedal by strens and nuts, and which protects the front part of the shoe from rain and mud, while a side extension (1) protects the shoe from the cycle chain. Internal pads (4) improve the fit, and the cyclist's foot is easily removed in case of emergency. Robs (2) underneath give good contact with the pedal. A hole (3) at the front allows water to drain out when not in use. The device can include suitable markings to make it easily visible at sight.
