Abstract
An automatic pressure operated safety valve and its driving circuitry is used for diving suits. It inflates the suit from a gas supply a certain specified time after a specified pressure has been reached. The gas is held in a cylinder (1) and is released through a valve (2) under the control of a control and delay circuit (4) actuated by a pressure transducer (5). The pressure transducer (5) which may consist of a membrane or a piezoelectric based device, operates a switch (6) which after a time delay defined by a capacitance (C1) and resistance (R1) triggers a rectifier (D1) and passes a current through a special element (2) in the gas cylinder valve. This consists of a melting plate (102) or resistance element (R1) which releases the gas supply to the diving suit.
